If the Captools/net "Service" type programs (Automatic Tasker, and Data Server Program) fail to start as indicated on the Captools/net Server Control Panel (see example below), this may be a result of MS-Windows "Data Execution Prevention" settings.

 

 

On newer computer installations (mid 2005/later) the default DEP setting may be set to "On", which in some cases may affect Captools/net program startup, resulting in this problem.  If you encounter this difficulty, you should use MS-Windows Control Panel, System settings to specify either the MS-Windows "default" setting as shown below.

 

 

After restarting your computer, if the Captools/net service programs still have not started, then try configuration the DEP settings as follows, to explicitly not prevent these services from running:
